Conscious Route – ‘Amorphous Shape’ ft Empress b/w ‘Day Ones’ ft One OZ, Mistah Bohze, and Mackenzie

Conscious Route delivers again with this double-shot single release from his forthcoming album, ‘Belterz.’ Kicking off with the slow-rolling ‘Amorphous Shape,’ produced by Glasgow’s Mackenzie, the track sees Conscious Route’s delivery perfectly balanced with those of Glasgow-based hip-hop stalwart, Empress, whose double-time flow, ferocious punchlines and conscious wordplay demonstrate why she has maintained her position on the scene.

The second track, ‘Day Ones’ opens with some deft cuts courtesy of JabbathaKut as Mackenzie brings some classic-sounding hip-hop production to bear. Mackenzie also steps away from beat-making duty and joins Conscious Route on the mic alongside fellow Scottish rap veterans One OZ and Mistah Bohze of (II Tone Committee), as they all bring their A-games over the head-nodding beat.
Rooted in a solid hip-hop aesthetic, both of these tracks will have you hitting play again…

Conscious Route is a rapper, MC, poet and singer-songwriter who was born in London before moving to Edinburgh over a decade ago. In 2020, he unleashed the collaborative ‘Lost Routes’ album, alongside producer True Note, which went on to receive a 4-star review in The Scotsman upon its release. In addition to this, three of his more recent releases, ‘Trojan,’ ‘Orphans,’ and his feature on ‘Dragons Jaw’ by Post Coal Prom Queen, were all named as tracks of the week on BBC Introducing Scotland. The Sensory EP, a collaboration with producer Toni Smoke, also saw 2 tracks receive worldwide airplay on Rapstation 365 radio station, played by UK’s DJ Shorty on London Chip Shop show, then re-spun by the legendary Chuck D in the USA. Elsewhere, Conscious Route’s release, ‘Dripping Sauce’ with producer Subject 13, saw hyped reviews and worldwide attention on YORAPS.COM & DMCWORLD.NET. His ‘Pyramid EP,’ with shortlisted Scottish Artist of the Year, Scott Bathgate, also reached the international stage, with airplay in USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and Europe.
Closer to home, Conscious Route’s ‘Lost Routes Flip tape’ was supported by Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music ‘Fresh On The Net BBC Introducing’ mixtape show and he has seen his music named among the Herald’s top 100 Scottish tunes of the year. Since then, Conscious Route’s music continues to get support from the BBC – with ‘Dragon’s Jaw’ making it to BBC Introducing Scotland’s Best Track of the Week show, with BBC6 music curator, Neil March saying, “Imaginative and Inventive UK Hip Hop crafted by one of the most exciting upcoming voices of the UK scene,” while BBC Introducing Scotland’s Phoebe I-H & Shereen Cutkelvin recently played the track, ‘Galactic’ on their show, with Shereen saying, “Can I just say this trio together are absolute fire! I mean it just all works so perfectly together, it’s by far the best track I heard here, like his just taken the bar so high, his knocked it off to a whole other room.”

He has also stayed active on the live music scene, supporting names such as Dabbla, Dead Prez, Marlowe, Pan Amsterdam, Wiki, Jelani Blackman and Onyx to name a few.
